One of the questions I’m asked from time to time is, “After all these years in real estate, what keeps you motivated?”
The answer is simple.
It isn’t just the houses.
It’s the people.
One of the greatest privileges I’ve had during my career is being invited into people’s lives during some of their biggest milestones. Buying a home is often just the beginning of a much larger story, and I consider myself incredibly fortunate that so many of my clients continue to let me be a small part of that story long after the closing table.
Over the years, I’ve helped countless buyers purchase their first home throughout Central Florida. Then something wonderful happens.
A year or two later, I get a phone call or see a post on social media announcing a new baby. Before long, there are family photos in the backyard of the very home we searched for together. Then come birthdays, school pictures, graduations, promotions, career changes, and eventually even retirement.
Watching those chapters unfold is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I have to admit something that surprises a lot of people.
I absolutely love buying baby gifts.
I don’t have children of my own, but there is something incredibly special about seeing a young family grow. Whether it’s a first child or another addition to the family, I genuinely enjoy celebrating those moments. Being able to send a thoughtful gift is my way of saying, “I’m still here, and I’m so happy for you.”
It’s never about business.
It’s about relationships.
The same goes for graduations, weddings, anniversaries, retirements, and all of life’s other milestones. Those are the moments worth celebrating, and I love having the opportunity to remind my clients that they aren’t just another transaction in my database.
They’re people I’ve come to know.
Many have become friends.
Some have trusted me through multiple moves as their lives changed, from starter homes to larger family homes, downsizing after retirement, or relocating somewhere new. Watching those journeys unfold over years—or even decades—is something I never take for granted.
People often assume that being a Realtor is all about contracts, negotiations, inspections, and closing dates. Those things certainly matter, and they’re an important part of my job.
But the paperwork isn’t what I remember years later.
I remember the excitement when a young couple got the keys to their first home.
I remember hearing that the extra bedroom we insisted on finding became the nursery.
I remember watching families grow into the homes where they’ll make memories for decades.
That’s the part of this career that fills my cup.
Real estate has given me the opportunity to meet incredible people from every walk of life throughout Ocoee, Winter Garden, Windermere, Orlando, Clermont, Minneola, Groveland, Apopka, Gotha, Mount Dora, Tavares, Bay Hill, Dr. Phillips, and communities all across Central Florida. While every home is different, one thing remains the same—it’s the people who make this career meaningful.
If you’re one of my past clients, know that I genuinely enjoy hearing your life updates. Whether you’ve welcomed a new baby, celebrated a graduation, accepted a new job, retired, or simply have something exciting happening in your life, I’d love to hear about it.
Those moments make my day.
They remind me why I chose this profession more than 25 years ago and why I still enjoy coming to work every single day.
At the end of the day, I don’t measure success simply by the number of homes I’ve sold.
I measure it by the relationships that continue long after the sale is complete.
And that’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
